Clint Eastwood is a filmmaker and actor that has received wide acclaim from film aficionados and audiences. Known for his roles in numerous iconic westerns, as well as for directing Oscar-winning films, the man is, without a doubt, one of the greatest influences on cinema.
It is unfortunate, then, that his political side makes him a laughing stock on the left side of the spectrum. Remembered for his “Obama in a chair” skit in 2012, Eastwood has now decided to embrace the lunacy of Donald Trump by endorsing him for President.
What makes this interesting, however, is how liberal Eastwood truly is when you look at his political views. He is pro-choice on the abortion debate, supports gay rights and same-sex marriage, is for environmental protection, and has been a staunch supporter of gun control despite his portrayal of famous shooters.
And yet, Eastwood continues to support the political party which is against all of these issues. It’s one thing to remain a Rockefeller Republican, it’s another to act like the modern-day Republican Party are still in the same vain as Nelson Rockefeller. As the political spectrum has shifted right over the decades, Eastwood fails to realize that the Democratic Party of today is much like the Eisenhower party he once fell in love with.
