Jo Cox, a Labour Party Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom, was assassinated June 16 by what are being suspected of being Far Right terrorists. As many of you many, the political climate in Britain has turned distasteful, with the reactionary wing of the country getting greater control of Parliament. As such, leftists in the country (primarily Labour Party politicians) have become targets of slander and hate.
Malala Yousafzai, the Muslim activist known for her educational fight against radical Islam and joint recipient of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, gave a galvanized speech in honor of Cox Wednesday. Malala spoke about how terrorism relies on fear and violence due to the fact that they know their ideas are incapable of being peacefully accepted by the public, and went on to emphasize education and bravery in the face of these dark times.
